Darksider’s Promo

I picked up Darksiders for PS3 a couple weeks ago and, while I haven’t really played that much, I’ve been sick for the last 2 weeks or so and really haven’t felt like doing much other than getting my daily frost badges, my initial impressions were good.

Included with the game though was a flyer stamped ‘DO NOT DISCARD’, a code and directions to go to darksiders.com. Initially there wasn’t any word on what the code was for, they were being a tease and said they’d announce in a few weeks. Well, few days ago was a few weeks.

The code allows for a free (4.99 s&h) copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla and a digital Darksider’s Hellbook (disc with making of vids, production art and such). Pretty sweet deal.

Random Thoughts

Is it wrong for a paladin to wander around the Dalaran city park killing rabbits and squirrels to keep Divine Plea up and get mana?

WotLK End Video

Apparently if you click the fountain in the middle of Dalaran you’ll see the video that plays after Arthas is defeated. Oops. Guess I’ve been spoiled.

Oh well, considering our 10-man progression was gutted over the last couple weeks I wasn’t gonna see it after a kill anyway.

Lazy Book Rev- Preorder: Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison

I just preordered Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison. Will be released Feb 23 and shipped by Science Fiction Book Club. Now I know what your thinking, why order from SFBC when including shipping it comes out to the same new release price I might get at Hastings on release day. Well I’ll tell you.

You see, I have the other 7 books in the series, all from SFBC, and SFBC books are all sized smaller than their retail counterparts. There’s like a half inch difference. You can’t go around having books in the same series being different sizes, it makes your shelf look all screwed up, and I can’t live like that.

Update: Full discloser - I feel I should point out this same issue has forced me to repurchase more than half of the Dresden Files. See when it first came out it was a just a new writer with a book and was of course released in paperback, and continused to be so for the next 5 books. Starting with book 7, Dead Beat was released as hardback. Then, they back and started releasing 1-6 in hardback... Well, in July I'll have the entire series in hardback, buawahahaha!!!

Supernatural S6

It’s already been confirmed that Supernatural will be back for a sixth season (yay!) despite the fact the show was originally plotted for 5 (um…. yay?).

I’m now seeing a report that the series creator will not be taking part in season 6 (is that a shark? JUMP!)

I really this isn’t as bad as it sounds. Supernatural is one of my favorite shows still on the air right now along with Burn Notice.

I was flipping through channels today and came across the Stuart Little sequel. Stuart’s dad came on screen and started dispending wisdo- holy SHIT! That’s Dr House! Dr House, the Vicodin fiends, ornery curmudgeon used to be in sicky sweet CGI family films. My mind, is blown.

Lazy TV Review: Sons of Anarchy S1

I recently finished season 1 of Sons of Anarchy. I’d picked it up as something of an impulse by from of of Amazon’s Christmas sales and was very impressed, I’ll definitely be picking up Season 2.

The show stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Katey Sagal (Peggy Bundy in a drama, weird) and Ron Pearlman (Hellboy in a drama, weird). Pearlman is the head honcho of the biker gang Sons of Anarchy, stepson Hunnam is the club VP. Sagal plays Hunnam’s mother and Pearlman’s wife, conniving bitch.

Show opens with the Sons warehouse getting blown up by  rival gang, shortly after Jackson’s (Hunnam)  ex goes into very premature labor (junkie bitch). Most of the season revolves around the Sons scrambling to get cash to recover from the explosion and Jackson dealing with personal issues. I hesitate to go into more detail as the show is very serialized and it’s hard to avoid spoilers.

I’ve seen Sons compared to The Sapranos but I don’t think that’s fair as The Sapranos sucks and Sons of Anarchy is quite good. I’d compare it to The Shield, which was also on FX pushing the basic cable grittiness envelope.

WoW Rant: Just… why?

I just a few minutes ago finished a random in AN. You know that drop into the pool over water towards the end? Our group’s DPS shaman though it would be hilarious if he cast water walking on me before I jumped. For those not in the know, normally jumping into water makes  splash, with water walking enabled it makes a splat.

Why…? It’s not like we were joking around and this was a playful joke, this was just… I really have no idea. The rest of the group, who btw the other 3 members were all from the same guild on my server though I’d never met them before, took offense and asked for an apology. Guy refused and we told him we’d wait the 3 minutes until we could vote him out of the group. Guy left the group voluntarily and the 4 of us finished the run.

When I told my guild (bunch of assholes, all of them). They laughed at my pain! Screw you guys!

Superbowl Predictions

Prior to the game starting, I did extensive research (checked to see who had the hottest cheerleaders) to determine who I felt would emerge triumphant. My research led to be believe the Saints would emerge victorious. I’ll admit, end of first quarter down by 10, I thought there might’ve been a flaw in my plan. But never fear, hotness won out and the Saint’s did dome out on the top!

Superbowl Half-time Show

There’s an entire generation that went into this thinking ‘The Who, who?’ They left that show saying ‘Oh, they’re the dudes that did the CSI theme.’

Lazy Book Review: Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton

Recently Michael Crichton passed away and from what I understand, this particular manuscript was found in his files. I mean no disrespect to the man, he gave us Jurassic park, The Lost World and The Andromeda Strain… But I can’t help but feel Crichton left this one in his files for a reason.

I feel as though Crichton got swept up in Pirates of the Caribbean fever though ‘Pirates! This I must write!’. He then likely drew up an outline of what a pirate story needed. Honorable pirate privateer, check! Governor's niece, check! Sea monster, check! Sea battle, check! Cannibalistic natives, check! Multinational crew of misfits who’s name reflect their nationality (The Jew, The Moor), check!

The entire affair just seems uninspired. I did manage to finish, but it took me two weeks of off an on reading. Books I really get into will be done in two days. I finished more from ‘It’s not bad enough to toss, I guess’ then from Dresden Files ‘Thomas is who’s son?! *turn page*’

Ultimately I feel actually a little more respect for Crichton. If my thoughts are correct, then the man recognized it wasn’t very good and filed it away rather and having it published to be carried by his name. Which, is what happened. Publisher fail.
